Jesus of Nazareth stands at the center of the New Testament. Born in Bethlehem and raised in Galilee, he is confessed by Christians as the Son of God, the long-promised Messiah, and the Savior of the world. His ministry — a sustained campaign of teaching, healing, and signs — drew crowds and opposition alike across Galilee and Judea, until his crucifixion under the Roman governor Pontius Pilate. Three days later he rose from the dead, appeared to his disciples, and ascended into heaven. That sequence of death and resurrection became the irreducible core of Christian proclamation.
